Pontiac Truck
Pontiac as a brand was first introduced in 1900 taking the name of a Native American chief and in 1909, General Motors purchased the company and rights to the name. Pontiac was used as the high-performance brand of the car maker and the brand is synonymous with "muscle car"; while the company is more popularly known for producing sports cars and high-power vehicles it also produces trucks.
The 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck embodies the brands ideal – sleek design and backed by a lot of power and performance. It is a bitter-sweet irony that General Motors has decided to make the Pontiac brand redundant in 2010 and this model will not be offered for sale in the United States. Pontiac currently offers the Montana (which ceased production in September 2008) and the less-popular Torrent crossover SUV. As part of the GM restructuring, Swedish car maker Saab has taken over the role played in the brand line-up for light trucks within GM though this is likely to change shortly too – Pontiac currently has no light trucks in its line up.
