Dodge Truck
The Dodge Brothers built the first automobile with their name on it in 1914. Before starting their own auto making company they had built all of the mechanical parts for the first 500,000 Ford Model T cars. The Dodge Brothers were well known and highly respected in the automotive industry. Their cars were a success and when the government asked them to supply cargo trucks and light repair trucks they agreed and that was the beginning of the Dodge Truck.
Chrysler purchased the Dodge Brothers Company in 1928 and introduced three new nameplates, which were the Plymouth, DeSoto and Fargo Trucks. At the beginning of 1929 all Dodge car and truck lines were powered by six cylinder engines. Although Dodge had produced trucks since 1917 it wasn’t until 1981 that the trucks sported the Ram name. Even today the Dodge Ram Pickup offers more of everything including style, luxury and performance.
